Who we are
TinMic is provided by Dominion Solutions LLC. This policy explains what data we collect through the TinMic website, TinMic desktop app, checkout, license service, update service, support inbox, and related transactional email.
What stays on your device
All speech-to-text transcription runs locally on your Mac. TinMic never uploads, streams, or analyzes your audio in the cloud. Your dictation history, custom vocabulary, and hotkey settings are stored only on your machine.
What we collect
We collect the email address and related timestamps you submit for downloads, waitlists, promo invites, purchases, support, and transactional email. For licenses, we store your email, license key, plan, subscription status, checkout/session identifiers, current billing period, and a hash of the device serial used for license activation. We do not store the raw serial number.
Stripe processes checkout, subscriptions, invoices, tax calculations, customer portal access, and refunds. We receive payment status, plan, customer, invoice, and subscription metadata, but we do not receive or store full card numbers.
We use PostHog for website analytics and service lifecycle events such as download requests, waitlist signups, checkout starts, purchases, promo redemptions, license activation, and authorized downloads. Website browsing analytics use memory-only persistence until you accept analytics. If you accept, we use first-party cookies and browser storage to remember this browser and, after you submit your email, connect website activity to an opaque internal analytics ID stored in our client database. We do not store your email address in analytics cookies.
PostHog may infer approximate location from IP address for analytics and fraud-abuse monitoring. This can reflect a VPN, proxy, carrier, or network exit location rather than your physical location. We do not use device fingerprinting, third-party advertising pixels, or techniques intended to bypass VPNs, proxies, private relay services, or other masking tools.
For support and transactional email, we process email addresses, message content, timestamps, delivery events, bounces, complaints, and suppression status needed to deliver support, license, receipt, download, waitlist, promo, and account-security email. We do not buy, rent, scrape, or share recipient lists.
Network connections
The app contacts api.tin-mic.com over HTTPS for license validation, app update checks, release notes, and authorized update downloads. License validation sends your email, license key, and a device identifier derived from a hashed hardware identifier.
How we use data
- To deliver download links, license keys, receipts, onboarding, support replies, and security notices.
- To validate licenses, prevent license abuse, process refunds, and manage subscriptions.
- To operate the website, checkout, update feed, and customer support systems.
- To monitor bounces, complaints, fraud, abuse, reliability, and service security.
- To send product or waitlist updates only when you ask for them or when they are part of your service.
Service providers
We use AWS for hosting, APIs, storage, DNS, license infrastructure, update delivery, and administrator authentication email; Resend for product transactional and support email; Stripe for payments and subscriptions; and PostHog for website and service analytics. We may replace or add vendors that provide the same operational functions, but we do not sell personal data.
Retention and security
License, subscription, checkout, and tax records are kept as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and satisfy legal/accounting obligations. We use HTTPS, Stripe-hosted checkout, DNS-based email authentication, bounce and complaint suppression, access controls, and encrypted storage where appropriate.
What we do not collect
- Audio of any kind.
- Transcripts produced by the app.
- The contents of any application you dictate into.
- Raw hardware serial numbers.
- Full payment card numbers.
- Purchased, rented, scraped, or third-party email lists.
Your rights and contact
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or object to certain processing of your personal data. You can also unsubscribe from non-essential product updates. To make a request, email support@tin-mic.com.
