# TinMic FAQ

## What is TinMic?

TinMic is a private Mac dictation app. Press a global hotkey, speak naturally, and TinMic turns your voice into text in the app you are already using.

## Does TinMic upload audio?

No. TinMic runs speech-to-text locally on your Mac. Microphone audio is not uploaded, streamed, or analyzed in the cloud for transcription.

## Does TinMic collect transcripts?

No. TinMic does not collect transcripts produced by the app.

## Does TinMic work offline?

Core dictation runs locally. Internet access may be needed for download links, license validation, release notes, update checks, and authorized update downloads.

## Which macOS versions are supported?

TinMic requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later.

## Why does TinMic need Microphone and Accessibility permissions?

Microphone permission lets TinMic capture audio while dictating. Accessibility permission enables the global hotkey, overlay placement, and text insertion into the active Mac app.

## Can I use one license on multiple devices?

Regular includes one active Mac per license. Support can reset the device binding when a user replaces or upgrades a Mac.
